Grace is a relatively new church - and we try to do things in new ways. That means we’re always looking for ways to connect with the local community, to get to know new people, to love the people of Porthcawl, and to live as Christians in the 21st Century. Does that mean we’ve got rid of tradition and all the other ‘old stuff’? Well, no. We’ve clung firmly onto the things that are God given, and tried to get rid of the things that are man-made and are no longer relevant.
So what does that look like? Well, it means that we believe that God has shown us what he is like in the eternal, life changing truth of the Bible, we live with the empowering and guidance of the Holy Spirit, and perhaps, at the heart of it all, we believe in the power of the cross.
It was Shakespeare who posed the question “what’s in a name?” and our name describes what we’re all about. We are excited about the fact that Christ’s death on the cross was the biggest act of grace this world has ever seen and the greatest gift ever given to humankind. God’s grace is shown in his desire to save people who reject him, to forgive those who are guilty and to bring home those who are far off: all by the cross.
We’re passionate about this message of grace, and we hope you’ll experience more of the life-changing, hope-giving power of the cross when you come to visit.
We started meeting formally at the end of 2005 following the church-planting initiative of Brackla Tabernacle. We are an independent church, though we maintain close links with Brackla. Our emphasis is upon Bible-exposition based preaching and teaching, charismatic experience, and community-centred outreach. Our goal is to see Christ glorified in Porthcawl through the hope and life giving power of the good news of Christ.
Tom Clewer is the pastor of the church, who, following his studies at Wales Evangelical School of Theology, leads the church with his wife Laura, with Neil and Margaret Matthews, and with Ross and Ann Milligan.
We have events throughout the year for the whole family, you’re welcome to come and be part of the family!
Every Sunday we have a morning service where the church meets together in Porthcawl 6th Form Centre. We come to worship and to hear from God’s Word, and we come to build relationships with each other. Our worship style is informal and contemporary, and you will always be sure of a warm welcome!
Children can go out to Kidzclub where they can have lots of fun singing, learning and making! All of our Kidzclub leaders are CRB checked and child-protection trained, so your child is in the safest place. The young people normally go out to Xplode, where they can learn about God and ask the questions they have about life!
Our various Church Groups meet throughout Porthcawl to get to know each other better, to study the Bible and to pray. Each group has a different style, but will be a good place to grow as a Christian.
Once a month the men have a get together. It might be a Bible study, a game of pool, a pub quiz or a bbq, but it’s a good place to find out what God is calling 21st Century men to be like. The ladies, not to be left out, also get together regularly at Cameo to have time together seeking God’s direction for their lives.
We have several youth meetings every week for young people of all different ages. It’s a time for food, entertainment and growing in God.
Are you interested in knowing more about Christianity? Maybe you’re not part of a church and you want to know more, maybe you’re a Christian but you want a firmer foundation for your faith. Come and discuss your questions in a relaxed and informal setting. These run throughout the year...
We are committed to week-by-week, expository preaching from the bible. Each week we record the sermon so that those in our family who aren't present can still benefit from the power of God through the preaching and application of the bible.
You are free to download any of the sermons from here or ask is if you would require an older mp3.
