The initiative to do the Church Plant is part of the wider ministry of Brackla Tabernacle, Bridgend. They wanted to plant a church in Porthcawl to fill the gap left by the closure of the Apostolic Church in the town in the 1980s. The Lord laid the vision on the hearts of a number of leaders in the church and following the Pavilion Praise series of meetings in August 2004, plans have slowly come together.

From June to September 2005 a series of Pre-church meetings were held to gather interested people and to explain the church's vision and values. This has lead to the launch of the new church in October 2005.

The church is led by David Ollerton, Hadyn Twinberrow and Tom Clewer.  They are supported by the Leadership Team who meet each fortnight.
